This role reports to the Vice President and General Manager of the
Cobham’s Integrated Space Solutions (ISS) business area and is a key
member of the ISS leadership team responsible for delivering
sustained top and bottom line growth and improving profitability by
executing the business strategy, developing strong customer
relationships and driving operational excellence. The ideal
candidate is someone who has proven experience in successfully
managing profit and loss and leading cross-functional teams in a
fast paced, highly complex environment. The candidate must be

The successful candidate will be responsible to define and execute
the strategy for this portfolio, develop the annual business plan
and associated investment strategy, and manage the business to meet
or exceed the plan while meeting or exceeding customer
expectations. Key elements of the business plan include
funding, revenue, profit, sales, new business funds, internal
research and development, indirect expenses, and staff utilization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Provide proactive leadership of a multi-disciplined team to
support daily business operations, including but not limited to
conducting daily performance board meetings, establish
priorities, supporting management and customer requests,
addressing facility and infrastructure concerns, and personnel
issues as required.
- Oversee and monitor the performance of programs within
portfolio and provide guidance to program teams to ensure cost,
schedule and technical performance requirements of each programs
are achieved and customer expectations are met or
- Analyze revenue and profitability of programs within
portfolio, providing forecasts to the Long Island VP/GM with
risks and opportunities to the plan with mitigation /
realization activities. Provide variance analysis for any
deviation to budget or previous forecasts together with recovery
- Develop accurate presentations and reports to support internal
management and customer reviews including but not limited to
monthly business reviews, monthly operations reports, and weekly
- Establish a long term growth strategy for your product line
including your product line’s vision, short and long term
objectives, and tactical action plans to achieve your
strategy. Lead your team to execute to the strategy
and present progress monthly to leadership.
- Work closely with the Business Development team to identify
new business opportunities that support the business strategy
and establish capture plans for those opportunities.
Leverage relationships with customers to capture follow-on
- Oversee the preparation of proposals and requests for bid
approvals to support the on time submission to our
customers. Ensure all proposals are backed with detailed
basis of cost estimates, business case justifications, risks and
opportunities, pricing recommendations and rationale.
- Provide direct management and supervision of the Program
Management team, which includes selection, work allocation,
training, development and problem resolution. Establish
annual objectives, monitor employees’ performance against those
objectives, and provide real time, frequent feedback regarding
their performance. Establish career development plans for
each employee that includes training and experiential
opportunities. Motivate, coach and mentor employees to
achieve peak productivity, performance and employee engagement.
- Provide frequent to communication to our employees on the
performance of the business, key milestones and accomplishments,
recent changes, in process changes. Communications would
be in the form of All Hands, Skip Level Meetings, Gemba walks,
staff meetings, newsletters, etc.
- Promote, sponsor and oversee continuous improvement
initiatives intended to improve our processes, eliminate waste,
and drive efficiencies throughout the business.
- Cultivate strong relationships with customers and the
Company’s senior leaders to ensure all customer needs and
shareholder expectations are met.
- Align resource allocations, tailor process attributes and
scope infrastructure capacity to support business needs.
- Ensure compliance with appropriate Company policies and
procedures, especially those related to business execution and
new business development.
- Work with Long Island leadership team to actively manage and
develop talent within the product line.

cost, productivity, quality processes, and on-time delivery
- Bachelor's Degree and Minimum 10 years’ experience in
Aerospace and Defense Industry or equivalent experience
- 25% or more travel, domestic and international
